I suppose the phrase—the word—originally meant a man who searched for food on the beach. From the slight sounds that had reached him in his place of confinement, he was aware that some persons had found their way to the scene of slaughter, and in a state of the most intense anxiety awaited the result of their investigation, prepared for the worst. Naturally he was a member of the National Honor Society and a straight A student on the Honor Roll. He was dressed with the utmost care, and he set his feet upon the broad walk as though the action were in some way a condescension. A big breakfast is healthier anyway, so they say.
